Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Cyber Security Engineer to join our dynamic team in Digbeth, Birmingham. You will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security systems to protect our critical infrastructure and data assets. This role requires a strong technical background, a deep understanding of cyber security principles, and a passion for staying ahead of evolving threats.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain security solutions across various platforms and environments (cloud, on-premise, hybrid).
- Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.
- Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, including forensic analysis and post-incident remediation.
- Monitor security systems for anomalies, alerts, and potential threats, utilizing SIEM tools effectively.
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the SDLC (Secure Development Life Cycle).
- Provide expert advice and guidance on cyber security matters to internal stakeholders.
- Stay current with the latest security threats, technologies, and best practices.
Required Skills
- Strong experience with security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Proficiency in network security, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and proxies.
- Demonstrable experience with cloud security principles and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Solid understanding of vulnerability management, penetration testing, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell) for automation.
- Knowledge of industry security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, CEH).
- Experience with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with DevOps security practices and tools.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field.
