Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Nurses to join our critical care team at Bendigo Health. This is an exceptional opportunity for experienced nurses looking for consistent 12-hour shifts and top-tier hourly rates. You will play a vital role in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients presenting to the Emergency Department with a wide range of conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening emergencies. Our ED is a fast-paced and challenging environment, requiring quick thinking, excellent clinical skills, and a strong commitment to patient advocacy. Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, ensuring timely assessment and intervention.
- Manage and prioritise patient care effectively in a high-pressure environment, including triage and rapid response.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient responses and documenting accurately.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of doctors, allied health professionals, and support staff.
- Educate patients and their families on conditions, treatments, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records in line with hospital policies and professional standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and uphold best practice guidelines.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor for junior staff and students where appropriate.
Required Skills
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Division 1)
- Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in an Emergency Department setting
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills in acute care situations
- Advanced life support certification (ALS or equivalent)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration abilities
- Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Sound knowledge of emergency nursing principles and practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-graduate qualification in Emergency Nursing or critical care
- Experience with electronic health record systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner)
- Triage certification
- Cannulation and venepuncture competency
