Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Freight Forwarding Manager to join our growing team in North Vancouver. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of freight forwarding operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will manage a dedicated team, optimize processes, and contribute to the strategic growth of our freight services across various modes of transport including air, ocean, and road. We offer Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for eligible international candidates, providing an exciting opportunity for global talent to contribute to our Canadian operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and lead the freight forwarding operations team, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.
- Oversee end-to-end freight forwarding processes for air, ocean, and road shipments, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Ensure strict compliance with all relevant international and domestic regulations, customs procedures, and company policies.
- Optimize operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and service quality through continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong, lasting relationships with carriers, agents, and clients, ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
- Handle complex customer inquiries and resolve operational issues promptly and effectively, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.
- Monitor market trends, industry developments, and identify opportunities for service enhancement and strategic growth.
- Prepare and analyze comprehensive operational reports to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with sales, customer service, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Proven extensive experience in freight forwarding management (minimum 5 years).
- Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance (e.g., incoterms, tariffs).
- Excellent leadership, team management, and mentoring skills with a track record of developing talent.
- Proficiency in freight management software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certifications in customs brokerage, dangerous goods handling (IATA/IMDG), or supply chain management.
- Experience with specific DSV freight forwarding software platforms or similar industry-leading systems.
- Multilingual capabilities, especially in a second language relevant to international trade.
- Project management experience in a logistics environment.
