Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and physically fit individuals to join our team as a Government Mail Carrier/Postman in Mesa, AZ. This is an active outdoor role that requires you to be comfortable working independently in various weather conditions, delivering mail and packages to homes and businesses along a designated route. You will be a crucial link between the community and essential services, ensuring timely and accurate delivery while adhering to federal postal regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Sort and load mail and packages into delivery vehicles.
- Deliver mail and packages to residences and businesses on a designated route, often on foot.
- Operate a postal vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Collect outgoing mail from street boxes and businesses.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering inquiries and resolving delivery issues.
- Adhere to all USPS safety regulations and operating procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and collections.
- Handle accountable mail, such as registered and certified items.
Required Skills
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Ability to lift and carry mail sacks weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to walk long distances and stand for extended periods.
- Valid state driver's license with a safe driving record for at least two years.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a role requiring significant walking or outdoor activity.
- Knowledge of local geography in Mesa, AZ.
- Experience operating a vehicle in various traffic conditions.
