Job Description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Government Women & Children’s Shelter Assistant to join our team in a secure role. This pivotal position provides essential daily support to the operations of our shelter and directly contributes to the well-being and safety of our residents. The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a strong sense of empathy, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a nurturing and secure environment. Full training will be provided to ensure all team members are proficient in our safety protocols and support strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to shelter residents, including assistance with daily routines and resource navigation.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized living environment within the shelter facility.
- Monitor facility common areas and resident activities to ensure adherence to shelter guidelines and safety protocols.
- Assist with intake and orientation processes for new residents, ensuring a welcoming transition.
- Document observations, incidents, and daily activities accurately and promptly.
- Collaborate with case managers and other staff to support resident care plans and activities.
- Distribute supplies, meals, and other necessities to residents as required.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs related to shelter operations and support services.
- De-escalate minor conflicts and report significant concerns to appropriate supervisory staff.

- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and communication.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or volunteer) in a caregiving, social service, or community support role.
- Knowledge of local community resources in Santa Ana.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish).
- Certification in First Aid and CPR.
