Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and physically fit individuals to join our team as a Hardware Store Yard Assistant. This is an immediate hire opportunity for an outdoor retail role that plays a crucial part in the efficient operation of our store. As a Yard Assistant, you will be responsible for managing the outdoor yard area, assisting customers with loading merchandise, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring a safe and organized environment. This role involves significant physical activity and working in various weather conditions. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with loading heavy and bulky merchandise into their vehicles.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe outdoor yard area.
- Receive, unload, and organize incoming product shipments.
- Operate forklifts or other heavy equipment safely after proper training.
- Monitor inventory levels in the yard and communicate replenishment needs.
- Assist with inventory counts and stock rotation.
- Perform general maintenance tasks in the yard as required.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
- Provide friendly and helpful customer service.
Required Skills
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects regularly (up to 50 lbs or more).
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to learn and operate equipment safely.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and good hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail or warehouse environment.
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery (certification not required, training provided).
- Knowledge of hardware products or building materials.
