Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Heavy Rigging Supervisor to join our dynamic team in Charlottetown, PE. This pivotal role involves planning, organizing, and directly supervising all aspects of complex heavy rigging and lifting operations. The ideal candidate will ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry standards and company policies. This position is open to international candidates who possess the necessary expertise and a willingness to relocate.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee all heavy rigging and lifting operations, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and project specifications.
- Supervise and mentor rigging crews, promoting a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Conduct pre-lift meetings, risk assessments, and develop lift plans, ensuring all personnel understand their roles and responsibilities.
- Inspect rigging equipment, cranes, and other machinery to ensure they are in safe working condition and properly certified.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure seamless execution of lifting schedules and operational requirements.
- Implement and enforce company safety policies, procedures, and relevant regulations (e.g., OH&S, ASME B30 standards).
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of all rigging gear and associated equipment.
- Provide hands-on support and problem-solving during complex rigging tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of operations, equipment inspections, and safety incidents.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Required Skills
- Minimum 7 years of experience in heavy rigging and lifting operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing complex lift plans and critical lifts.
- Thorough knowledge of rigging equipment, sling capacities, and various types of cranes.
- Strong understanding of relevant safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., ASME B30, CSA standards).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate a team in a demanding environment.
- Valid rigging certifications (e.g., NCCCO Rigger Level II or equivalent).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced rigging certifications (e.g., NCCCO Lift Director, Master Rigger).
- Experience with specialized heavy transport equipment.
- Familiarity with international rigging standards and practices.
- Proficiency in project management software.
- Trade qualification in a related field (e.g., heavy equipment operator, millwright).
