Job Description
Are you ready to spread smiles and serve up frosty delights this summer? Island Sweets Mobile is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our team as a Seasonal Ice Cream Truck Driver / Bell Ringer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves being outdoors, enjoys interacting with people, and wants a fun, active job during the warmer months. You’ll be responsible for operating our iconic ice cream truck, selling a variety of frozen treats, and ensuring a delightful experience for our customers throughout Saanich. Full training will be provided, so no prior experience driving an ice cream truck is necessary, but a clean driving record is a must!
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate an ice cream truck on designated routes within Saanich and surrounding areas.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, serving ice cream and other frozen treats.
- Handle cash and card transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the truck and inventory.
- Ensure proper stock levels and manage inventory on the truck.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
- Follow all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Contribute to a positive and fun atmosphere for both customers and the team.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License (or equivalent).
- Clean driving record.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs (e.g., ice cream boxes).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service or sales.
- Familiarity with Saanich and Greater Victoria areas.
- Experience driving larger vehicles (e.g., vans, small trucks).
- Food Safe certification (or willingness to obtain).
