Job Description

Join our dynamic research team as a Lab Assistant, supporting critical scientific investigations in our state-of-the-art facilities. This role is essential for maintaining efficient lab operations, ensuring experiments run smoothly, and contributing to groundbreaking discoveries. You will be involved in a variety of tasks ranging from preparing samples and equipment to maintaining detailed records, all while adhering to strict safety protocols. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare laboratory equipment and samples for experiments.
  • Sterilize and clean laboratory glassware and instruments.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies and reagents; place orders as needed.
  • Assist researchers with basic experimental procedures under supervision.
  • Record and maintain accurate data logs and experiment results.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Dispose of chemical and biological waste properly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments.

Required Skills

  • Basic understanding of laboratory procedures and safety.
  • Proficiency in using common lab equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions meticulously.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Science subjects.
  • Previous experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial).
  • Knowledge of COSHH regulations.
  • Basic data entry skills.
