Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Doctor / General Practitioner to join our dynamic healthcare team in Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador. Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive primary medical care to patients of all ages, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of acute and chronic conditions.
- Conduct thorough patient histories, physical examinations, and order appropriate diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring patient involvement and education.
- Prescribe medications and other treatments in accordance with medical best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Perform minor medical procedures as required within the scope of general practice.
- Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare professionals when necessary, ensuring continuity of care.
- Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date patient medical records.
- Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours care as per clinic schedule.
- Engage in continuous professional development and medical education to stay abreast of best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, specialists, and allied health staff.
Required Skills
- Medical Degree (MD, MBBS, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL).
- Excellent diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and colleagues.
- Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical medical practice.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
- Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a recognized residency program in Family Medicine.
- Previous experience practicing as a General Practitioner, particularly within a Canadian healthcare system.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Additional certifications or advanced training in areas such as emergency medicine, palliative care, or women's health.
