Job Description
GKN Aerospace is seeking an accomplished and strategic Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Director to join our dynamic team in Ryde, Isle of Wight. This pivotal role will be instrumental in identifying, evaluating, and executing M&A opportunities that align with our strategic growth objectives in the aerospace and defense sector. As an M&A Director, you will lead the full lifecycle of M&A transactions, from target identification and initial screening through due diligence, valuation, negotiation, and post-merger integration planning. You will work closely with senior leadership, business unit heads, and external advisors to drive inorganic growth and enhance GKN Aerospace’s market position and technological capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end M&A transaction process, including strategic assessment, target screening, valuation, financial modeling, due diligence, negotiation, and execution.
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of potential acquisition targets, divestiture candidates, and strategic partnerships.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, market research, and strategic assessments to support investment decisions.
- Prepare detailed presentations and recommendations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
- Manage relationships with investment banks, legal counsel, consultants, and other external advisors.
- Coordinate and oversee due diligence activities across various functional areas (financial, legal, operational, commercial, technical).
- Negotiate key commercial and legal terms of M&A agreements.
- Support post-merger integration efforts to ensure successful realization of synergies and strategic objectives.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments to identify new opportunities and risks.
- Mentor and develop junior team members within the corporate development function.
Required Skills
- Proven track record of success in leading complex M&A transactions from origination to close, ideally within the aerospace, defense, or a related high-tech manufacturing sector.
- Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation techniques (DCF, multiples, etc.), and corporate finance principles.
- Exceptional negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strategic mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- In-depth understanding of legal and regulatory aspects of M&A transactions.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working with senior executives.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or CFA designation.
- Experience with international M&A transactions.
- Background in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development within a large industrial or technology corporation.
