Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Millwright / Industrial Mechanic to join our operations team in Paterson, New Jersey. This vital role involves the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment within our energy-from-waste facility. The successful candidate will ensure optimal operational efficiency, minimize downtime, and contribute to a safe working environment. Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on rotating and stationary equipment such as pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, turbines, and generators.
- Install, align, dismantle, and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues, diagnose faults, and carry out corrective actions efficiently.
- Utilize precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators) to ensure accurate alignment and fit of components.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and rigging tasks as required for repairs and installations.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used.
- Collaborate effectively with other maintenance personnel, operators, and engineers.
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency breakdowns as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Millwright or Industrial Mechanic in a heavy industrial setting (e.g., power generation, manufacturing, mining).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Experience with precision alignment techniques for rotating equipment.
- Competency in various welding processes (e.g., Stick, MIG) and basic fabrication.
- Ability to work safely at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal trade certification or equivalent apprenticeship.
- Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of boiler operations and maintenance.
- Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Certification in rigging and hoisting.
