Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Music Director / Band Teacher to lead our vibrant music program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for instructing students in instrumental music, conducting rehearsals, and organizing performances. This role requires a passion for music education, strong leadership skills, and the ability to inspire students of all levels. Experience with diverse musical genres and instruments is highly valued. We are open to supporting eligible international candidates with Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive band curriculum for various grade levels.
- Conduct daily rehearsals and sectionals for concert band, jazz band, and other ensembles.
- Prepare students for concerts, festivals, competitions, and community performances.
- Oversee instrument inventory, maintenance, and repair.
- Collaborate with other arts faculty and school administration on events and programming.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and program activities.
- Manage the budget for the music department.
- Mentor and motivate students to achieve their musical potential.
- Support and adhere to all school district policies and procedures.
- Organize and lead field trips related to musical performances or educational opportunities.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Music Education, Music Performance, or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification/licensure (or ability to obtain).
- Proficiency in conducting instrumental ensembles.
- Strong pedagogical skills and classroom management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of band instruments.
- Knowledge of music theory, history, and aural skills.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching band at the K-12 level.
- Experience with marching band or jazz band direction.
- Proficiency in a secondary instrument.
- Experience with music technology and software.
- Familiarity with local and national music education standards.
