Job Description
We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Exhibition Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role is pivotal in supporting the successful delivery of our exhibition program, from initial concept to public opening and subsequent de-installation. The Exhibition Assistant will work closely with the Exhibition Manager, artists, and technical teams to ensure all aspects of exhibition planning, setup, and maintenance are executed to the highest standard. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Exhibition Manager in all phases of exhibition planning and execution.
- Coordinate logistics for artwork delivery, installation, and de-installation, including liaising with artists, couriers, and technical staff.
- Prepare exhibition spaces, including cleaning, painting, and minor repairs.
- Support the installation and de-installation of artworks and display elements, ensuring safety and adherence to specifications.
- Manage and maintain exhibition inventory, including tools, equipment, and materials.
- Provide administrative support, including scheduling meetings, preparing documents, and managing correspondence.
- Assist with condition reporting and documentation of artworks.
- Ensure exhibition spaces are well-maintained and presentable during public viewing hours.
- Support the marketing team with content gathering and promotional material coordination for exhibitions.
- Act as a point of contact for visitors and artists, providing information and assistance as needed.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (1+ years) in an assistant role within an arts, events, or cultural organisation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to high standards of presentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required by exhibition schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Arts Management, Fine Art, Event Management, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of art handling and conservation principles.
- Experience with exhibition design software or tools.
- A valid UK driving license.
