Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Nanotechnology & Materials Characterization Intern to join our innovative R&D team in Chichester. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual with little to no prior professional experience to gain hands-on experience in a leading materials science environment. You will work alongside experienced scientists and engineers, contributing to groundbreaking projects involving the synthesis, processing, and characterization of advanced materials at the nanoscale. Full training will be provided on all necessary techniques and equipment, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior researchers and engineers in the preparation of material samples for characterization.
- Operate and maintain various characterization equipment under supervision, such as SEM, TEM, XRD, or DLS.
- Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data, presenting findings to the team.
- Conduct literature reviews to support ongoing research projects and deepen understanding of relevant topics.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and adhere to all safety protocols and quality standards.
- Contribute to general lab upkeep, including inventory management and equipment calibration.
Required Skills
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Nanotechnology, or a related field.
- Strong foundational understanding of scientific principles.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong observational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic familiarity with laboratory safety procedures and practices.
- Some coursework or academic project experience involving materials science or analytical techniques.
- Enthusiasm for learning about advanced materials and nanotechnology.
