Job Description
We are seeking a diligent and community-focused Parking Enforcement Officer to join our team. In this council role, you will be responsible for upholding parking regulations within Wichita Falls, ensuring public safety, and facilitating traffic flow. This position involves significant public interaction, requiring a professional demeanor and excellent communication skills. A uniform will be provided. Key Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned city zones on foot or in a vehicle to enforce parking laws and ordinances.
- Identify and issue citations for parking violations, including expired meters, illegal parking, and time limit infractions.
- Educate the public on parking regulations and respond to citizen inquiries and complaints regarding parking.
- Maintain accurate records of all citations issued, warnings given, and parking enforcement activities.
- Operate and maintain parking enforcement equipment, including handheld devices for ticketing.
- Report abandoned vehicles, hazardous parking situations, or other public safety concerns to appropriate departments.
- Collaborate with other city departments and law enforcement agencies as needed.
- Adhere to all city policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Texas Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments in various situations.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, often in varying weather conditions.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and record-keeping.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in law enforcement, security, or a similar regulatory role.
- Familiarity with Wichita Falls city ordinances and geographical layout.
- Experience with handheld electronic ticketing devices.
