Job Description
Trinity College is seeking a dedicated and vigilant Night Watchman to join our esteemed security team. This entry-level position is crucial for maintaining the safety and security of our historic campus, its buildings, and occupants during unsocial hours. The Night Watchman will be responsible for patrolling the college grounds, monitoring security systems, responding to incidents, and ensuring the premises are secure. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start a career in security. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of college grounds and buildings during assigned shifts.
- Monitor security cameras and alarm systems, responding promptly to any alerts or suspicious activities.
- Ensure all doors, windows, and gates are securely locked and report any breaches or vulnerabilities.
- Respond to and report on incidents, disturbances, or emergencies, following established protocols.
- Provide assistance to staff, students, and visitors as required, including emergency first aid if qualified.
- Manage access control for approved personnel and contractors entering or exiting the premises during night hours.
- Complete detailed incident reports and shift logs accurately and in a timely manner.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and emergency services when necessary.
Required Skills
- High level of reliability and punctuality.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and make sound judgments under pressure.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and reporting.
- A calm and professional demeanor.
- Ability to undertake physical patrols and stand/walk for extended periods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a security, military, or similar role.
- Valid SIA (Security Industry Authority) Door Supervisor or Security Guard licence.
- Current First Aid at Work certificate.
- Familiarity with CCTV monitoring systems.
