Job Description
We are excited to offer an enriching Occupational Therapy Internship focused on pediatric care. This is an incredible opportunity for aspiring Occupational Therapists to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant clinical setting. You will work closely with licensed OTs, observe patient interactions, assist in therapy sessions, and learn about the assessment and treatment of children with developmental, physical, and sensory challenges. This entry-level internship is designed to provide comprehensive training and mentorship, preparing you for a successful career in pediatric occupational therapy. No prior professional experience is required; we are looking for passionate individuals eager to learn and make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and assist licensed Occupational Therapists during individual and group therapy sessions.
- Help prepare therapy materials and maintain a clean and organized treatment environment.
- Learn to document patient progress under the direct supervision of a licensed OT.
- Participate in team meetings and case discussions to understand holistic patient care.
- Engage with children and their families, fostering a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
- Shadow OTs during initial assessments and treatment planning phases.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to clinic operations as needed.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy program.
- Strong passion for working with children and pediatric populations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic understanding of child development principles (gained through coursework).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a pediatric setting (e.g., schools, camps, clinics).
- Familiarity with sensory integration principles.
- Bilingual abilities (especially Spanish) are a plus.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
