Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Parking Enforcement Officer to join our team in Llandudno. This vital role involves ensuring the fair and consistent application of parking regulations across the borough, helping to manage traffic flow, improve road safety, and ensure parking availability for all. You will be a visible representative of the council, working outdoors in all weather conditions to provide a polite and professional presence within our community. Full training, including comprehensive instruction on relevant legislation and operational procedures, will be provided to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Patrol designated areas on foot or by vehicle to identify and address parking contraventions.
- Issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) accurately and efficiently in accordance with local and national regulations.
- Provide advice and assistance to the public regarding parking regulations, payment options, and general enquiries.
- Utilise handheld computer devices for recording data and issuing notices.
- Complete daily reports and maintain accurate records of activities.
- Report any defective signs, lines, or street furniture related to parking.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and other council departments to resolve parking-related issues.
Required Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Good literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record-keeping and report writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A full, valid UK driving license (manual preferred).
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and undertake significant walking.
- Basic IT proficiency for using handheld devices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer service or public-facing role.
- Knowledge of local authority regulations and parking legislation.
- Basic first aid certification.
