Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Photography Assistant Intern to join our dynamic creative team in Gosford. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in both studio and field photography for various media projects. You will support our photographers in capturing high-quality images for our radio, digital, and television platforms, covering everything from live events and promotional shoots to studio portraits and editorial content. This is a fantastic chance to learn from industry professionals, develop your skills, and contribute to impactful visual storytelling.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist lead photographers with setting up and breaking down photography equipment in both studio and on-location environments.
- Manage and organize photographic gear, ensuring it is clean, charged, and in proper working order.
- Help with lighting setups, including positioning strobes, reflectors, and other modifiers as directed.
- Support during photoshoots by posing subjects, managing props, and ensuring continuity.
- Learn and apply basic photo editing techniques under supervision, using industry-standard software.
- Perform administrative tasks such as file management, archiving images, and preparing equipment lists.
- Scout and prepare shoot locations, ensuring all necessary permits and access are arranged.
- Maintain a safe and organized workspace at all times.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of photography principles (exposure, composition, lighting).
- Familiarity with digital cameras and lenses.
- Strong eagerness to learn and proactive attitude.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Reliable transportation to travel to various field locations within the Central Coast region.
- Basic computer proficiency for file management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a photography, media, or related degree/diploma program.
- Previous experience with photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop).
- A personal portfolio (even if amateur) demonstrating an interest in photography.
- Knowledge of local Central Coast events and locations.
