Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart your career in civil construction? Downer Group is seeking enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our team as an Entry Level Pipe Layer Assistant on the Gold Coast. No prior experience is required – we provide comprehensive training to help you develop valuable skills in pipe laying and civil infrastructure. Key Responsibilities
- Assist experienced pipe layers in the installation of various pipe systems (stormwater, sewer, water mains).
- Perform manual labour tasks including trench excavation, backfilling, and compaction.
- Help with the safe handling, loading, and unloading of pipes and materials.
- Maintain a clean and organised work site, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety procedures and protocols.
- Learn to identify different pipe types, fittings, and their applications.
- Support the team with general site duties as required.
Required Skills
- Willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform manual labour.
- Commitment to workplace safety.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card) – desirable, but training can be provided for the right candidate.
- Current Australian Driver's License and reliable transport.
- Basic understanding of construction site environments (even from personal projects).
