Job Description
We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Pre-Med Shadowing Interns to join our dynamic hospital environment. This unique internship offers an unparalleled opportunity for aspiring medical professionals to gain firsthand exposure to various medical specialties, observe patient care, and understand the intricate operations of a large healthcare system. This is an entry-level position designed for individuals with no prior medical experience, providing a foundational learning experience to aid in future medical school applications. Interns will rotate through different departments, observing physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff in their daily routines.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe and learn from physicians and healthcare professionals during patient examinations, rounds, and procedures.
- Gain exposure to various medical specialties such as Internal Medicine, Surgery, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, and more.
- Understand the flow of patient care from admission to discharge.
- Attend educational sessions, grand rounds, or department meetings as permitted.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and adhere to all hospital policies and procedures.
- Engage actively with mentors and ask insightful questions to deepen understanding.
- Document observations and reflections to enhance learning.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a pre-medical undergraduate program.
- Strong academic record, particularly in science courses.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of professionalism and maturity.
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated interest and passion for a career in medicine.
- Ability to commit to the duration of the internship program.
- No prior medical experience required; full training on hospital protocols will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous volunteer experience in a healthcare setting (non-clinical roles are acceptable).
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
- Certifications in CPR/First Aid (preferred, but not required).
