Job Description

Are you passionate about fresh food and have a keen eye for detail? Sainsbury’s is looking for an enthusiastic and reliable Entry-Level Produce Quality Checker to join our team in Southwark. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to start their career in retail, with no prior experience required. You will play a crucial role in ensuring that our customers always find the freshest and highest quality fruits and vegetables on our shelves. We will provide full training to equip you with all the skills needed to excel in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily visual inspections of fresh produce deliveries and items on display.
  • Identify and remove any produce that does not meet Sainsbury's quality standards (e.g., bruised, overripe, damaged items).
  • Ensure proper stock rotation to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
  • Monitor and record temperature settings for refrigerated produce displays.
  • Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization in the produce section.
  • Communicate any significant quality issues or concerns to the produce manager or supervisor.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

Required Skills

  • No prior experience necessary – full training will be provided.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observation skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, lift and move produce boxes (up to 15kg) occasionally.
