Job Description

Prince Albert City Services is seeking a motivated and eager individual to join our team as an Entry Level Public Facilities Handyman / Maintenance worker. No prior experience is required – we are committed to providing comprehensive on-the-job training and mentorship to help you develop valuable skills in various aspects of facilities maintenance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and a desire to contribute to the upkeep of Prince Albert’s public spaces.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance staff with various repair and upkeep tasks in public facilities.
- Perform basic maintenance duties such as painting, minor plumbing fixes, and carpentry.
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities to identify maintenance needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work areas and equipment.
- Operate hand and power tools safely after receiving proper training.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies as directed.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations.
- Assist with groundskeeping tasks as needed, including litter removal and basic landscaping.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic and a positive, can-do attitude.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliability and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic understanding of tools and equipment.
- Previous experience in a general labor or volunteer role.
- Aptitude for problem-solving and hands-on work.
- First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
