Job Description
Are you looking to start a career in trades and facilities maintenance with a reputable organization? Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Entry-Level Public Facilities Handyman / Maintenance worker. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with little to no prior experience to learn valuable skills, receive on-the-job training, and grow within a supportive environment. You will be instrumental in ensuring our facilities are well-maintained, safe, and operational.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance staff with various repair and upkeep tasks across LVHN facilities.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, such as checking and cleaning equipment.
- Conduct minor repairs including patching walls, painting, replacing light bulbs, and fixing basic plumbing issues.
- Help with general building maintenance tasks, ensuring a safe and presentable environment.
- Learn to identify maintenance needs and report them to supervisors.
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new trade skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, lift up to 50 lbs, and work in various conditions.
- Reliable transportation and punctuality.
- A positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with basic hand tools or small repairs (e.g., home projects).
- Understanding of general safety practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to understand how things work.
