Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Public Policy Intern to join our dynamic Government Relations team. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in the field of public policy, government relations, and networking within a leading professional services firm. You will support our team in monitoring policy developments, conducting research, and assisting with stakeholder engagement initiatives. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about public policy and eager to learn how businesses interact with government and regulatory bodies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on current and emerging public policy issues relevant to Deloitte's business sectors, particularly in areas like technology, finance, and sustainability.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments at local, national, and international levels.
  • Assist in the preparation of policy briefs, summaries, presentations, and other communication materials for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the team in mapping key government officials, parliamentary groups, and industry associations.
  • Help organise and coordinate internal and external meetings, workshops, and networking events.
  • Provide administrative support to the Government Relations team as needed.
  • Engage with internal subject matter experts to gather insights on policy impacts and develop informed positions.

Required Skills

  • Strong interest in public policy, government relations, and current affairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in research, analysis, and data gathering.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Political Science, International Relations, Law, Economics, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the UK political system and legislative processes.
  • Experience with database management or CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).
