Key Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in all training programs and obtain required certifications for equipment operation.
  • Learn and safely operate a variety of public works equipment, including but not limited to, trucks, loaders, excavators, and street sweepers, under supervision.
  • Assist in the maintenance and repair of roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, parks, and other municipal infrastructure.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment and vehicles; report any defects or issues promptly.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for self and colleagues.
  • Conduct manual labour tasks as required, such as digging, lifting, spreading materials, and traffic control.
  • Maintain clean and organized work sites and equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and the public.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Required Skills

  • No prior experience required; full training provided.
  • Valid UK driving license with a clean record.
  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications through provided training.
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform manual labour in various weather conditions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safety and public service.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles or a strong aptitude for hands-on work.
  • Previous experience working outdoors or in physically demanding roles.
  • Familiarity with local geography and road networks in Aberdeen.
