Job Description
We are actively seeking experienced and compassionate Respiratory Therapists to join our dynamic healthcare team in Baie-Comeau, Quebec. This exceptional opportunity comes with full support for LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment) and Skilled Worker Visa processes for qualified international candidates. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a critical role in the assessment, treatment, and management of patients with respiratory and cardiovascular disorders across various clinical settings. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide expert care, ensuring optimal respiratory health outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments and diagnostic tests.
- Administer various respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and medical gas administration.
- Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation and other life support systems.
- Participate in emergency response and resuscitation efforts, including airway management.
- Perform arterial blood gas sampling and analysis.
- Educate patients and their families on respiratory conditions, medication use, and equipment operation.
- Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory therapy equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
- Document patient care activities accurately and thoroughly in electronic health records.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing professional development.
Required Skills
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- Eligibility for registration with the Ordre professionnel des inhalothérapeutes du Québec (OPIQ) or equivalent regulatory body in your home country.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Strong understanding of respiratory physiology, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
- Proficiency in administering respiratory treatments and managing ventilation.
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding healthcare environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
- Experience in specialized areas such as Intensive Care Units (ICU), Emergency Departments, or Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).
- Additional certifications (e.g., Pediatric Advanced Life Support – PALS).
