Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Rheumatologist to join our dynamic and supportive team. The successful candidate will provide expert diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with a wide range of rheumatological conditions. This role involves both outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations, collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with rheumatological diseases in outpatient clinics and inpatient settings.
  • Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic tests, including laboratory investigations and imaging studies.
  • Formulate and implement personalized treatment plans, including pharmacological interventions, lifestyle advice, and referral to allied health professionals.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and ensure integrated care.
  • Contribute to the teaching and supervision of junior medical staff, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Engage in clinical audit, research, and continuous professional development to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Participate in the on-call rota for rheumatology services as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in accordance with Trust policies and professional guidelines.

Required Skills

  • Primary Medical Qualification (MBBS or equivalent).
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a license to practice.
  • CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training) in Rheumatology, or equivalent specialist registration.
  • Extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a broad spectrum of rheumatological conditions.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team-working skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage a diverse caseload.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality improvement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD) in a relevant field.
  • Experience in specific sub-specialty areas of rheumatology (e.g., early inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases).
  • Experience in medical education or clinical leadership roles.
  • Evidence of research or publications in rheumatology.
