Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Risk Management Director to lead our comprehensive risk strategies and ensure robust oversight of our financial operations in Paterson, NJ. This pivotal role involves identifying, assessing, mitigating, and monitoring all forms of risk across our diverse business units. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in financial services risk management, capable of navigating complex regulatory landscapes and fostering a strong risk culture. This position is open to candidates requiring sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's enterprise-wide risk management framework, policies, and procedures.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and quantification of market, credit, operational, strategic, and compliance risks.
  • Formulate and execute risk mitigation strategies and controls, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed risk reports for senior management and the Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with internal audit, compliance, and legal departments to ensure integrated risk management practices.
  • Mentor and develop a team of risk professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and proactive risk awareness.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes, integrating new insights into our risk framework.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to business units on risk-related matters and new product development.
  • Manage relationships with external regulators and auditors, ensuring transparency and compliance.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in risk management within the financial services industry.
  • Proven leadership experience with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams.
  • Deep understanding of financial products, markets, and relevant regulatory frameworks (e.g., Dodd-Frank, Basel III).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in risk modeling, quantitative analysis, and risk management software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Professional certifications such as FRM (Financial Risk Manager), CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst), or PRM (Professional Risk Manager).
  • Experience with global financial institutions and international regulatory environments.
  • Prior experience managing projects related to risk system implementation or enhancement.
