Job Description
Are you looking to kickstart a rewarding career in the construction industry? Geelong Roofing & Construction is seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as an Entry-Level Roofer’s Assistant. No prior experience is required – we are looking for reliable candidates with a strong work ethic who are eager to learn and grow. You will play a crucial role in supporting our skilled roofing professionals on various projects, learning the fundamentals of roofing while ensuring a safe and organized worksite. Full safety gear will be provided from day one, along with comprehensive on-the-job training.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist skilled roofers with the preparation and execution of roofing projects.
- Safely load and unload roofing materials, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including site cleanup and waste removal.
- Perform basic tasks such as measuring, cutting materials (under supervision), and site setup.
- Follow all safety protocols and company policies diligently.
- Learn and apply proper techniques for handling various roofing materials and tools.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Help maintain company vehicles and equipment.
Required Skills
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy materials (up to 25kg).
- Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to attendance.
- Excellent work ethic and a proactive attitude.
- Willingness to learn and take direction.
- High regard for safety procedures and personal well-being.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Comfortable working at heights and in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Australian Driver's License.
- Hold a Construction Induction Card (White Card) – if not, we can assist the right candidate in obtaining this.
- Basic understanding of hand tools.
- Previous experience in a manual labor role (even non-construction related).
