Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic STEM Education & Outreach Intern to join our team. This entry-level internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful programs that inspire young minds in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. You will play a vital role in assisting with the development and delivery of engaging STEM activities, workshops, and community outreach initiatives, fostering a love for learning and discovery among children and youth in St. John’s.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research, development, and preparation of educational materials for STEM workshops and programs.
  • Support program staff in facilitating interactive, hands-on STEM activities for various age groups.
  • Engage directly with children and youth, encouraging participation and curiosity in STEM subjects.
  • Help organize and execute community outreach events to promote STEM education and the Club's programs.
  • Document program activities, participant feedback, and outcomes for reporting purposes.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for all participants.
  • Collaborate with team members on various administrative and program-related tasks as needed.

Required Skills

  • Strong passion for STEM education and youth development.
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a post-secondary program in Education, Science, Engineering, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Eagerness to learn and a positive, can-do attitude.
  • Criminal record and vulnerable sector check required upon hiring.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous volunteer or work experience with children or youth in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Familiarity with various STEM topics (e.g., coding, robotics, environmental science, biology).
  • Basic understanding of child development principles and group management techniques.
