Job Description
WSP is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team in Baie-Comeau, Quebec. This role involves designing and analyzing structural components for a wide range of projects, ensuring compliance with local codes and international standards. The successful candidate will contribute to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, working on challenging projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct structural analysis and design for various projects, including commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings, bridges, and other infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports using relevant software and tools.
- Perform site inspections and provide construction support, addressing any structural issues that arise.
- Collaborate with architects, other engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Ensure all designs comply with Canadian building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's professional development.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of progressive experience in structural design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE, Revit Structures).
- Strong understanding of Canadian building codes (e.g., NBCC) and engineering standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration with OIQ (Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec).
- Experience with projects in the Quebec region.
- Proficiency in French (oral and written).
- Experience with BIM methodologies.
