Job Description
Join Coastal Stage Productions as a Theatrical Wardrobe / Costume Dresser and become an integral part of our vibrant backstage team. This role is perfect for an agile and detail-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced live theatre environment. You will be responsible for the meticulous care, maintenance, and quick changes of costumes during rehearsals and live performances. This is a hands-on position requiring precision, speed, and a calm demeanor under pressure, ensuring every performer looks flawless for every cue.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute quick changes for performers efficiently and accurately during live shows.
- Organize, maintain, and repair costumes, ensuring they are show-ready at all times.
- Assist with the preparation of costumes, including steaming, ironing, and basic alterations.
- Manage costume inventory and track items during performances and load-outs.
- Collaborate closely with actors, stage management, and other technical crew.
- Launder and clean costumes as needed, following specific care instructions.
- Maintain a tidy and organized wardrobe area backstage.
Required Skills
- Proven experience of at least 12 months in a fast-paced, live event or theatre environment.
- Basic sewing and costume repair skills.
- Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Physical stamina to stand, lift, and move quickly backstage.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by performance schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal training in costume design, theatrical production, or fashion.
- Experience with different fabric types and costume construction techniques.
- Knowledge of theatrical protocols and etiquette.
- First Aid certification.
