Job Description
Are you passionate about live events, customer service, and gaining hands-on experience in the dynamic world of ticketing and box office management? West Virginia University (WVU) is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Ticketing & Box Office Management Intern to join our team. This entry-level internship provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn the intricacies of event operations from the ground up, supporting various venues across campus, including performing arts centers and athletic facilities. You will work closely with our experienced staff, contributing to all aspects of ticket sales, customer relations, and event day logistics. This role is perfect for someone eager to develop practical skills, understand event flow, and contribute to the success of diverse campus events. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with daily box office operations, including ticket sales, exchanges, and refunds.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons in person, over the phone, and via email.
- Learn and utilize ticketing software systems for event setup, reporting, and patron management.
- Support event day operations, including managing will-call, resolving ticketing issues, and assisting patrons with seating.
- Process group sales and special requests with attention to detail.
- Reconcile daily sales and prepare reports under supervision.
- Maintain an organized and clean box office environment.
- Assist with promotional activities and distribution of event information.
- Contribute to a positive and efficient box office team dynamic.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Arts Administration, Sports Management, Marketing, Business) is a plus, but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent customer service orientation.
- Proficiency with basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and punctual.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or a front-facing role.
- Familiarity with event management or performing arts environments.
- Basic knowledge of ticketing software (e.g., Paciolan, Ticketmaster, AudienceView) is a bonus, but not required.
