Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and physically capable Traffic Sign Installation Laborer to join our Public Works team. In this outdoor council role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of various traffic signs throughout the City of Burlington. This is a vital position that ensures public safety and smooth traffic flow within our community. The successful candidate will work as part of a dynamic team, operating hand and power tools, and adhering to strict safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain traffic signs, street signs, and regulatory signage according to municipal standards and specifications.
- Operate various hand tools, power tools, and light machinery safely and efficiently.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials and equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections of signs for damage, wear, or visibility issues and report findings.
- Ensure all work sites are safe, properly marked, and comply with traffic control regulations.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support public works operations.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and ability to perform strenuous outdoor work in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of hand and power tool operation.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Valid G Class Driver's License with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a general labor, construction, or outdoor maintenance role (6-12 months preferred).
- Basic understanding of traffic control principles.
- Knowledge of municipal infrastructure and public works operations.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
