Key Responsibilities

  • Assist experienced officers in inspecting travelers, cargo, and conveyances at ports of entry to ensure compliance with U.S. laws.
  • Learn to identify and interdict prohibited goods, contraband, and inadmissible individuals.
  • Under supervision, interview individuals and examine documents to determine admissibility or compliance.
  • Accurately document findings and report observations.
  • Develop proficiency in using various law enforcement tools and technologies.
  • Uphold high standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.

Required Skills

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ability to pass a background investigation, drug test, and medical examination
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn and apply complex legal and regulatory information
  • Demonstrated integrity and strong ethical character
  • Capacity to work in a challenging and dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Some college coursework or degree, particularly in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or other critical languages relevant to border operations
  • Experience in customer service, security, or any field requiring attention to detail and interaction with the public
