Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Participate in rigorous paid training programs to learn federal laws, regulations, and procedures related to customs, immigration, and agriculture.
- Assist experienced officers in inspecting travelers, cargo, and conveyances at ports of entry to ensure compliance with U.S. laws.
- Learn to identify and interdict prohibited goods, contraband, and inadmissible individuals.
- Under supervision, interview individuals and examine documents to determine admissibility or compliance.
- Accurately document findings and report observations.
- Develop proficiency in using various law enforcement tools and technologies.
- Uphold high standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism.
Required Skills
- U.S. Citizenship
- Ability to pass a background investigation, drug test, and medical examination
- Possess a valid driver's license
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn and apply complex legal and regulatory information
- Demonstrated integrity and strong ethical character
- Capacity to work in a challenging and dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Some college coursework or degree, particularly in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish or other critical languages relevant to border operations
- Experience in customer service, security, or any field requiring attention to detail and interaction with the public
