Key Responsibilities

  • Learn and assist with the monitoring and control of water treatment plant processes, including filtration, disinfection, and chemical application.
  • Conduct routine laboratory tests and analyses of water samples to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment under supervision.
  • Record operational data, readings, and observations accurately.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.
  • Assist certified operators with daily plant operations and troubleshooting.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
  • Basic computer literacy for data entry and monitoring systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Valid Illinois Driver's License or ability to obtain one.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a production, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment.
  • Post-secondary education in a related technical field.
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry or biology.
  • Interest in environmental science or public health.
