Job Description

First Bus Cornwall is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join us as a Transit Operator / Bus Driver in Training. No previous bus driving experience is required! We provide full, paid training to help you obtain your Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) license and develop all the skills needed to become a professional bus driver. If you’re a safe driver with a customer-focused attitude and a desire to learn, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete our comprehensive paid training program to obtain your PCV license.
- Operate public service vehicles safely and efficiently according to scheduled routes.
- Provide excellent customer service, assisting passengers with inquiries and ensuring a pleasant journey.
- Handle passenger fares and tickets accurately.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks to ensure safety and report any defects.
- Adhere to all company procedures, traffic laws, and safety regulations.
- Maintain a clean and tidy vehicle environment.
Required Skills
- Valid UK driving license (Category B) with no more than 6 penalty points.
- Minimum of 18 months driving experience (car or van).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong commitment to customer service.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
- A strong geographical knowledge of Falmouth and the surrounding Cornwall area.
- Familiarity with basic vehicle maintenance checks.
