Job Description
Join the Calgary Zoo as a Public Education Intern and embark on an exciting journey to inspire visitors of all ages about wildlife and conservation. This internship is designed for individuals eager to gain hands-on experience in informal science education, program delivery, and public engagement within a vibrant zoo and aquarium setting. You will work closely with our experienced education team, receiving comprehensive training in interpretive techniques, curriculum development support, and visitor interaction strategies. This role is perfect for those passionate about environmental education who are looking to make a tangible impact and develop foundational skills in a world-class conservation organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of daily educational programs, presentations, and interpretive talks for diverse audiences.
- Support the education team in developing and preparing program materials and activities.
- Engage with zoo visitors, answering questions and providing accurate information about animals, habitats, and conservation efforts.
- Aid in the setup and takedown of educational stations and events.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance interpretive skills and knowledge of zoo animals and conservation topics.
- Contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment for all visitors.
