Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Pawn Shop Broker / Appraiser Assistant in our vibrant Ybor City location. In this dynamic role, you will support our expert brokers and appraisers in evaluating a diverse range of items, assisting customers with sales and pawn transactions, and maintaining an organized and welcoming store environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and an interest in retail, sales, and appraisals to grow within the financial services industry. Full training will be provided to ensure your success.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior brokers and appraisers in evaluating various items including jewelry, electronics, tools, and collectibles.
- Conduct preliminary research to determine the market value of items for pawn loans and outright purchases.
- Process pawn transactions, sales, and layaways accurately and efficiently.
- Provide exceptional customer service, answering questions and explaining terms clearly and professionally.
- Maintain store cleanliness, merchandise displays, and organization.
- Handle cash and manage daily transaction records with precision.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and state regulations related to pawn operations.
- Support sales efforts by promoting merchandise and identifying customer needs.
- Learn and apply appraisal techniques and product knowledge under direct supervision.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 12 months of experience in customer service, retail sales, or a similar public-facing role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new software.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a pawn shop or second-hand retail environment.
- Knowledge of precious metals, gems, electronics, or other valuable items.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are a plus.
