Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Virtual Legal Aide to join our Public Defender’s Office. This is a 100% remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your home while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our clients. As a Virtual Legal Aide, you will provide essential administrative and legal support to our attorneys, assisting with case management, document preparation, and client communication. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain valuable experience in the legal field and contribute to public service, with comprehensive training provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist attorneys with case preparation, including organizing files, scanning documents, and maintaining digital records.
- Draft and format legal documents such as motions, orders, subpoenas, and correspondence under attorney supervision.
- Conduct basic legal research and gather information pertinent to cases using online databases and other resources.
- Communicate professionally with clients, court staff, and external agencies via phone and email.
- Manage and update attorney calendars, schedule appointments, and coordinate meetings.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail and faxes, ensuring timely distribution.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and case details.
- Perform general administrative duties to support the efficient operation of the office.
Required Skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
