Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Bridge Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Sunnyvale, California. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of challenging bridge projects, from conceptual design through construction support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural analysis and design, specifically focused on bridge structures. Key Responsibilities
- Perform structural analysis and design for various bridge types, including concrete, steel, and timber structures.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Utilize advanced structural analysis software (e.g., CSiBridge, SAP2000, LUSAS) to model and analyze complex bridge systems.
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including highway engineers, geotechnical engineers, and environmental specialists.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., AASHTO LRFD).
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals and estimates.
- Participate in site visits and field investigations as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to their professional development.
- Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 3+ years of experience in bridge design and analysis.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as CSiBridge, SAP2000, or similar.
- Strong understanding of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Experience with Caltrans design standards and procedures.
- Familiarity with seismic design principles for bridges.
- Experience with post-tensioned concrete bridge design.
- Demonstrated ability to manage project tasks and deliver on schedule.
- Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- For international candidates, familiarity with U.S. engineering codes and standards, and a strong commitment to learning and adapting.
