Job Description
Join Norton Healthcare as a Public Healthcare Laundry & Sterilization Aide and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and patient safety within our facilities. This immediate hire position is perfect for individuals looking for a critical support role in the healthcare sector. You will be responsible for the meticulous processing of linens, uniforms, and other materials, ensuring they meet stringent healthcare sterilization and cleanliness standards. Key Responsibilities
- Sort, wash, dry, and fold various healthcare linens, gowns, and uniforms according to established protocols.
- Operate and maintain industrial laundry equipment safely and efficiently.
- Inspect cleaned items for stains, damage, and proper sterilization indicators, re-processing as needed.
- Transport clean and soiled linen carts to and from designated areas within the facility.
- Maintain accurate inventory of laundry supplies and report needs to supervisor.
- Adhere to all infection control, safety, and regulatory guidelines, including OSHA standards.
- Assist with the collection and distribution of reusable medical devices and equipment for sterilization processing, ensuring proper handling and documentation.
- Perform routine cleaning of the laundry and sterilization work areas.
Required Skills
- Ability to read, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, push and pull heavy carts.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic communication skills to interact with colleagues and supervisors.
- Reliability and punctuality are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a laundry, housekeeping, or sterile processing environment.
- Familiarity with healthcare safety and infection control practices.
