Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and professional Government Receptionist to join our State Department Office located in Renmark, South Australia. This entry-level role is perfect for an individual with a strong commitment to public service, excellent communication skills, and a desire to contribute to the efficient operation of a vital government department. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors and callers, providing crucial administrative support to ensure smooth daily operations. Full training on government protocols and systems will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome visitors to the State Department Office with professionalism and courtesy
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls, taking messages as necessary
  • Manage incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries
  • Maintain a tidy and organized reception area and shared office spaces
  • Schedule appointments and manage meeting room bookings
  • Provide general administrative support, including data entry, filing, and photocopying
  • Assist with basic inquiries from the public and direct them to appropriate government services or personnel
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to government privacy policies
  • Operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, and phone systems
  • Assist with the preparation of documents and reports as directed by senior staff
