Key Responsibilities

  • Learn to answer emergency 911/999 calls promptly and professionally.
  • Master the skills to accurately gather critical information from callers during stressful situations.
  • Develop proficiency in dispatching appropriate emergency units (police, fire, EMS) based on the nature of the emergency.
  • Become adept at operating computer-aided dispatch (CAD) systems and multi-line telephone systems.
  • Undergo comprehensive training on emergency protocols, geographical areas, and resource allocation.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of all calls and dispatched activities.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel to ensure coordinated and efficient responses.
  • Participate actively in all required training modules and certifications.
  • Adhere to all departmental policies, procedures, and ethical standards.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Exceptional verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to remain calm, composed, and empathetic in high-stress situations.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities under pressure.
  • Basic computer literacy and typing skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience.
