Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and aspiring individuals to join our DNEG team in Sidcup as a Lighting & Rendering VFX Intern. This is an unparalleled opportunity for those passionate about visual effects but with little to no prior professional experience. You will gain hands-on experience in a dynamic studio environment, working alongside industry veterans on high-profile projects. Full training will be provided, ensuring you develop a strong foundation in lighting and rendering techniques for feature films and episodic content.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Lighting & Rendering Artists with various tasks, contributing to ongoing productions.
- Learn and apply DNEG's proprietary tools and workflow pipelines for lighting, shading, and rendering.
- Support the team in setting up scenes, preparing assets for lighting, and optimizing render passes.
- Participate in daily reviews and feedback sessions, actively engaging in the learning process.
- Maintain organized file structures and adhere to project naming conventions.
- Collaborate effectively with other departments, including asset, animation, and compositing.
- Research and experiment with new techniques and software under guidance to enhance skills.
Required Skills
- A strong passion and foundational interest in visual effects, particularly lighting and rendering.
- Basic understanding of 3D computer graphics principles.
- Eagerness to learn new software, techniques, and workflows quickly.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to take constructive feedback and apply it effectively.
- Proactive attitude and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a relevant degree program (e.g., Computer Animation, VFX, Game Development, Fine Arts).
- Some familiarity with 3D software such as Maya, Houdini, or Katana (even through personal projects).
- A basic understanding of photography principles (e.g., composition, colour, light).
- Any personal portfolio or project work demonstrating an interest in 3D art or VFX.
