XPO Logistics is actively seeking a diligent and safety-focused individual to join our team as a Forklift Spotter / Safety Assistant in Idaho Falls, ID. This is an excellent entry-level position where no prior forklift license or experience is required to begin – we provide comprehensive, paid training to ensure your success.
As a vital member of our warehouse team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and efficient workplace. Your primary responsibility will be to act as an extra set of eyes and ears for forklift operators, especially in congested areas, providing clear guidance to prevent accidents and ensure smooth material flow. This role is fundamental to our commitment to a zero-incident safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Directing forklift operators with clear hand signals and verbal communication in high-traffic or blind spots.
- Ensuring clear and safe pathways for both equipment and pedestrians within the warehouse.
- Continuously monitoring the work environment for potential hazards and ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Communicating effectively with operators and team members to facilitate safe and efficient movement of materials.
- Reporting any observed safety violations, near misses, or incidents immediately to supervisory personnel.
- Assisting with general warehouse safety checks and promoting a proactive safety culture.
- Participating in all required safety meetings and training sessions.
Required Skills
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and established protocols.
- Exceptional observational skills and attention to detail.
- Clear and effective communication abilities (verbal and non-verbal).
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Physical stamina to stand, walk, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds throughout a shift.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Ability to understand and strictly follow instructions.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Previous experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or industrial setting (even without equipment operation).
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and material handling principles.
