Job Description
We are actively seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commercial Diver / Welder to join our dynamic team in San Antonio, TX. This is a crucial role for individuals proficient in both commercial diving and advanced underwater welding techniques. The successful candidate will perform a variety of subsea tasks, including inspection, repair, and construction, often in demanding conditions. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively as part of a specialized crew.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute underwater welding and cutting operations according to project specifications and industry standards.
- Perform various commercial diving tasks, including structural inspection, maintenance, and repair of marine infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain specialized diving and welding equipment, ensuring all gear is in safe working order.
- Conduct thorough pre-dive and post-dive checks and complete all required documentation.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols, dive procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate effectively with dive supervisors, fellow divers, and surface support teams.
- Assist in rigging, deployment, and recovery of diving equipment and project materials.
- Report all findings, observations, and progress clearly and accurately to the dive supervisor.
- Participate in emergency response drills and be prepared for potential high-risk situations.
Required Skills
- ADCI (Association of Diving Contractors International) or equivalent commercial diving certification.
- Minimum 3 years of verifiable experience as a commercial diver in marine construction or related fields.
- Proficiency in advanced underwater welding techniques (e.g., wet welding, hyperbaric welding).
- Certification in relevant welding processes (e.g., AWS D3.6M Underwater Welding Code).
- Strong understanding of marine safety regulations and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively in physically demanding and potentially hazardous underwater environments.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED; technical certifications or degrees in marine technology are a plus.
- Experience with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods for underwater inspections.
- Certifications in specialized diving techniques (e.g., saturation diving, hazmat diving).
- Familiarity with various types of subsea equipment and tooling.
- Previous experience working on oil and gas platforms, pipelines, or harbor infrastructure projects.
