Job Description
We are seeking a talented and motivated Piping Design Engineer to join our dynamic team in Keighley. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with a solid background in piping design, who is eager to contribute to significant projects within the energy, chemical, or pharmaceutical sectors. The role involves developing piping layouts, creating detailed designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications. We are open to supporting qualified international candidates with Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and prepare 3D piping models, general arrangement drawings, and isometric drawings using industry-standard software.
- Perform pipe stress analysis (or provide support to stress engineers) and incorporate findings into designs.
- Prepare Bill of Materials (BOMs) and specifications for piping components.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and project specifications (e.g., ASME, ANSI, BS).
- Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams (process, civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure design integration.
- Participate in design reviews, hazard analyses (HAZOP), and safety studies.
- Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, and construction phases.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in piping design within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power, or similar heavy industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as AutoCAD Plant 3D, PDMS, E3D, or SmartPlant 3D.
- Strong understanding of piping design principles, layouts, and industry codes and standards.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, plot plans, and equipment layouts.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Eligibility for Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) is essential for international applicants.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
- Experience with pipe stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II).
- Familiarity with UK and international engineering standards.
- Experience in laser scan data utilization for brownfield projects.
